My girlfriend, originally from Bangalore, India, invited me to discover her country for the first time. We planned an itinerary covering both South and North India, visiting cities like Bangalore, Mysore, Hampi, Delhi, and Agra.
Whether for a short walk in the forest or a multi-day trek in the mountains, having a good mapping application on your phone has become essential. Gone are the days of getting lost with a water-damaged map! Over the years, I have tested many applications, and three of them have caught my attention for their reliability and features dedicated to hiking.
My little brother Michel was on an M2 internship in Gothenburg, so my mother and I decided to visit him. We chose a week in late May, early June to take advantage of the Swedish spring.
Ever since Léa left for Annecy, we’d been planning to get together for a weekend of snowshoeing. We decided to spend the night at Le Nant du Beurre, a refuge situated at an altitude of 2080 meters in the Bauges massif.
My girlfriend and I decided to spend a week in Croatia this summer. For this first trip to the country, we chose to concentrate on the southern islands, which are relatively uncrowded.
We had booked our accommodation and flights online, but we hadn’t yet decided on our means of transport. We knew we’d be taking the boats, but we decided to rent a car on each of the islands.
Marc and I thought it might be fun to have another mountain outing. After a bit of research, we decided to head for the Canigou.
What is the Pic du Canigou? # The Pic du Canigou, also known as the Pica del Canigó, is the highest peak in the eastern Pyrenees, reaching an altitude of 2,784 meters. It is located in the Canigou massif, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of France.
My girlfriend and I decided to spend a week in Iceland this summer. For this first trip to the country, we chose to concentrate on the south, so as not to spread ourselves too thin.
At the end of May, we spent a week climbing in the Tarn and Jonte gorges. We stayed in a gîte in Mostuéjouls, surrounded by forest, cliffs and the river Tarn.
So we had an unlimited playground just a few minutes’ drive away.
As a Parisian, it’s difficult to climb outdoors on a regular basis.
That’s why I’ve put together this article presenting the main climbing sites where you can do it.
I’d like to remind you, however, that it’s important to respect the site and its rules. What’s more, climbing is a high-risk sport. So it’s important to always be accompanied by an experienced climber.
After a busy summer of climbing, we decided that it was time to get back into the swing of things (and no, we don’t do artifice)!
The whole gang decided to take advantage of the recent heat to climb in the south of France. We headed for the Calanques between Marseille and Cassis.
This summer has been pretty busy compared to the rest of the year.
We started with a traditional climbing course with Tristan from Rendez-vous Vertical in the Chassezac gorges. This enabled us to learn how to handle ropes and friends. The first falls were pretty scary, but once we got over that hurdle, our confidence was there.
Some time ago, I went climbing with a new stranger at Murmur Pantin. We had a beer (after the climb, of course) and he told me about his plans to climb the Aiguille Dibona. We had a good feeling about it, but hadn’t had the chance to climb together again.
My very first node was an OVH cloud server (the cheapest in the range) hosted in Strasbourg.
In order to test the internal routing, I looked for ways to have several additional nodes. I’m sharing below the plans I was able to find:
Since the first confinement, I’ve been spending part of my free time developing my dn42 AS.
dn42 (decentralized network 42) could be defined as a smaller-scale reproduction of a network similar to the Internet. The main difference is that it is mainly built on VPN tunnels rather than physical links (cables or fibers between different locations/operators).
Update (12/04/2020): Following a modification to the AMF website, my scraping script no longer works. The lists will therefore not be updated for the time being. The files have been archived and the links updated.
At the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018, my sister and I agreed to climb Mont-Blanc the following summer (summer 2018).
To do this, we contacted Roc Ecrins (formerly Roc Odyssée), an organization that organizes mountain holidays. They offered two formulas for the climb:
I’ve just returned from the famous Annapurna tour trek.
We did the tour without porters or guides, all without a hitch.
You’ll find below the schedule we followed (inspired by Terre d’aventure’s), and I’ll be adding a cost estimate shortly.
Apache Spark™ is a powerful engine for large-scale, real-time data processing.
It offers APIs in Java, Scala, Python and R, can work with Hadoop, Mesos or standalone.
It can access several data sources such as HDFS, Cassandra, HBase and S3.
When we want to carry out a statistical or other study, an essential step is to obtain and process data.
Here, we’re talking about obtaining data sets.
There are many possibilities available for this. But Quandl offers a large collection of datasets from various sources. It also offers “Collections”, which are thematically aggregated datasets.
